Farwah Hair Donation Experience

Meet Farwah Sajjad, recently graduated M.Phil from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Her field of study revolves around environmental sustainability and the betterment of our lifestyle by minimizing the use of carbon. She recently donated her hair to Hair To Help and have something to share with our reader.

Q1) Why have you decided to donate your locks ?

I have lost family members to cancer. Having firsthand experience with cancer has taught me a lot about human strength, compassion and the driving force behind a positive outlook on everything and to always appreciate little things in life.

It’s been years since I was searching for an authentic organization that could help me in donating my hair. This year it was a dream come true and I couldn’t be happier to donate to such a precious cause that is very close to my heart.

Q2)How much length you donated? Your overall experience with Hair To Help

I donated 18 inches (18”) of my hair. I never used chemicals or dye on my hair. Its been an amazing experience so far and I want this organization to grow even more.

Q3)Can you describe the feeling from which you were going through during hair donation?

The moment my hairdresser started to cut my hair, I got teary eyed. It was an overwhelming experience because I keep thinking of my loved ones who lost all their hair to cancer.

Q4) Would you like to donate your Hair again in future ?

Yes, I would love that. I am going to grow them out and donate as soon as possible.

Q5)What was the reaction of your Family/Friends?

My friends and family fully supported my decision and some didn’t even know about it and were pretty shocked.  However, now more people are asking me about how they can also donate their hair. I’m sharing all the details with them.

Q6)According to you, why hair donation is not so common in Pakistan?

It’s not about just hair donation, personally I think there is a lot of stigma in our society about cancer or any terminal illness to begin with. People do not want to talk about it openly as if it were a curse or embarrassment which is why there is not enough awareness about it. Despite having social media platforms, organizations, hospital, or governmental representatives endorsing it, common people tend to be oblivious about it. Important issues like this are brushed off under the carpet that is why the whole donation thing is not common in Pakistan.

Q7)An inspirational message you would like to give to motivate others for Hair Donation in Pakistan.

If Allah Taala has blessed you with health, this is the least we can do. It doesn’t even cost money. I would like to ask everyone who can and is capable, please donate your hair. Cancer fighters or survivors are among the strongest people I know; your hair can boost someone’s confidence and can make them feel pretty in their own skin.

Help share these organizations with all your friends and family.

Thank you.
