Hair Donor Questions & Answers

  1. Where do I go to get my hair cut?

    You can go anywhere to get your hair cut as long as the donation guidelines listed on our website are followed. We encourage our donors to go to a salon they are already familiar with so they will be comfortable when making their donation. View Donation Guidelines.

  2. Do you have a list of participating salons?

    No, we don’t currently have a list of salons. Most donors go to their regular stylist with our list of instructions for how to make the cut and mail the donated ponytail themselves.

  3. Can I donate gray hair?

    Hair to Help accepts hair from all ages.

  4. Can I donate colored hair?

    Yes, we can accept donations of colored hair.

  5. Can I donate permed hair?

    Yes, we can accept donations of permed hair.

  6. Can I donate bleached hair?

    No, we cannot use bleached hair. The bleach causes the hair to dissolve as it goes through the manufacturing process. Note: Many times highlights are done with bleach.

  7. Can I donate dreadlocks?

    We cannot accept dreadlocks. Our manufacturer is not able to use them in our children’s hairpieces.

  8. How many ponytails does it take to make one hairpiece?

    6 to 10 donated ponytails go into one hairpiece.

  9. Can I meet the child who receives my hair?

    We cannot link donors with recipients. Because all applicants are minors and Females , we must protect the Patients privacy.

  10. Can I include pictures with my hair donation?

    Yes, if you choose to send pictures please e-mail them at pakistanyouthforum@gmail.com. All photos must be submitted electronically in order for use on our website.

  11. If I send in pictures, will you post them on your website?

    We do update our donor gallery from time to time, but cannot guarantee that all the pictures we receive will be posted. We also use photos in our newsletters and post them around our office.

  12. How long will it take for me to receive acknowledgement of my donation?

    We work to thank all donors as quickly as possible. Because we rely on volunteers to help with this task, it may take up to 60 days to receive your acknowledgement.

  13. Can i Donate wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair ?

           We Do accept wigs and Extensions but cannot accept  falls or synthetic hair
